7 Best Foods That Stimulate Brown Fat for Weight Loss

     




Losing weight means making some necessary adjustments to your diet. Stop eating your children's food they didn't finish eating, be careful how much creamer you add to your coffee, don't over taste food while you're cooking, select low-carb tortillas verses regular ones, selecting the healthiest choices when ordering in or dining out can make all the difference in the world in your weight loss efforts and so too can reviewing your grocery list with a fine-tooth comb. One way you can revamp that shopping list is by adding some unique foods that activate a specific type of body fat called "brown fat" and boost your body's ability to burn calories.
Brown fat, also known as brown adipose tissue (BAT), is a type of fat that is activated in response to cold temperatures.  Its primary role is to produce heat to help maintain body temperature, and it achieves that by burning calories.  Scientist have discovered that brown fat has the ability to regulate temperature and promote weight loss.  However, the underlying mechanism of brown fat activation is complicated and not yet fully understood.
Studies have shown that eating certain types of food can help activate brown fat cells.  Some of these nutrients are found in certain fruits and vegetables, while others are found in healthy fats.  Here are some foods that can help activate brown fat cells.
  1.   Green Tea:  green tea can help your body absorb glucose and convert it into brown fat.
  2.   Coffee:  Coffee contains caffeine, which can stimulate the production of brown fat cells.
  3.   Capsaicin (Hot Pepper):  It's the active compound in hot peppers, which increases fat-             burning energy expenditure and can even help burn belly fat.
  4.   Curcumin:  Is found in the extract of turmeric root activates fat burning.  Studies have           shown curcumin increases calorie expenditure, thermogenesis, and brown fat.  It can             also help reduce both waist and hip circumference.  (Note: curcumin has low                           bioavailability, so it typically isn't absorbed so well, if taking a supplement be sure to             choose one that has a high bioavailability.)
  
  5.    Holy Basil:  Holy basil is a herb that contains ursolic acid, which can activate brown fat                   cells.

  6.    Fish-derived Omega-3 Fatty Acids:  Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA can help support            your weight loss efforts.  It increases the protein in the interscapular brown fat, reduce                visceral fat (the fat that wraps around your belly and organs) while increasing                               interscapular brown fat.

  7.    Menthol (Peppermint and Spearmint):  Long-term use of menthol has been shown to                 increase metabolically active brown fat, increase caloric expenditure, prevent weight gain           that is caused by a high fat diet, and even reverse insulin sensitivity.
So, kick off the morning with this Chocolate Peppermint Smoothie:
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons agave nectar (or honey)
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk or oat milk
  • couple drops of mint extract
  • fresh mint
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa nibs
Add your frozen banana, cocoa powder, agave, milk, and mint extract to your food processor or blender. (optional add some fresh mint leaves to the mix as well

Process until silky smooth and then pour into a glass.

It's important to note that the key is to eat the right kinds of foods.  In addition to a diet rich in healthy fats, it's important to exercise in cool temperatures, which is essential for the activation of the brown-fat cells.  As well as consuming the right types of fats can help you lose weight.  The benefits of brown fat are not limited to burning calories.  It can also fuel itself with triglycerides from the blood.  By doing so, the human body reduces the risk of metabolic syndrome which is associated with high blood glucose.
